Which is best? Will it sew thick fabric?

I love this machine, it arrived at lunchtime today and I have been putting it through its paces. The stitches and patterns are far more consistent than my old machine for fancy stitches (Stitchmaster Elegance) which is a machine I would not recommend to anyone. It is more consistent than my Janome workhorse as well. The Pfaff Ambition Essentials is easy to get used to and does what it says on the tin! Christian, on the telephone advised me against a different machine as it was not sturdy enough for my needs and he was perfectly correct, the service is outstanding, they do know what they are talking about. The alphabet font on the machine is neat and clear, the fancy stitches nice and even. A joy to use. I use a lot of vinyl and the machine sewed it without stretching it.. This is a first, even my Janome stretches it a little, some machines (Stitchmaster and others I can't remember) skip stitches on vinyl but not this one. I will add a further review if I come across problems.

Excellent in all respects except the threading of the needle; front to back, unless you have miniscule fingers, is very fiddly and the needle threader is not reliable on all sizes of needle. My old machine threaded right to left which was easy because even if you had difficultly you could always use a standard needle threader but with this modern construction - I note most machines are now front to back - the mechanics get in the way. But in every other respect I am very pleased indeed with it. Excellent service too so would certainly recommend this company.

Wonderful! Got this machine out of the box, did the usual scan of the instructions.... found the section I wanted and away we go. This is a wonderfully easy machine to use. Purchased the sewing machine for my daughter (aged 16 yrs). She was delighted with the product that within three days she was happily using the machine by following the instruction booklet. Of course she has received guidance form her college, but she is confident that she will be using the machine properly. She now wants the attachment for 'free sewing'. We would recommend this machine to both beginners and experienced people who wish to begin sewing. Thank You

Excellent quiet machine with loads of stitches, I love the way you can change the length and the width of the stitches. Easy to insert the bobbin, and to thread it. I prefer to thread manually but it does have a self threader which is easy to use. I've only used it for a short while, but already love it!

A really lovely machine, I'm a complete beginner and with the help of the very well written instruction book have managed to make the front of a patchwork cushion. Didn't even know how to thread it before I started. It sounds lovely too. Really looking forward to my future sewing projects and learning with this brilliant machine. Love it and chuffed with my prezzie.

I'm very pleased with my new Silver 197, I had decided on another machine based on what I thought I needed but on the advice of David changed my mind. It was a good decision as I got more for my money and better build quality altho Im not saying I might have been equally pleased having not seen this machine. I have'nt made anything yet because it was so close to Christmas when I took delivery. I am inspired by the many features tho and I have used the machine to try out ALL the embroidery stitches and alphabet fonts. Thank tou again for your excellent service and advice. My second machine from you and prob won't be the last.
